It is excellent in visuals and sonics. Talk about "wall of sound", If Phil Spector invented it for his Ramp;B pop vision this video proves Queen learned how to extend it into rock and roll. Queen's sonics are all encompassing here in a huge way. Rarely will you experience thunder like this. The first thing you have to admit that in the annals of rock there wasn't any frontman who had the presence of Freddy Mercury. He's like a force of nature. He ins't afraid to be a musician either as he rotates between his piano and "the struct" of a hoary rock god in front of the mic. If there's another vocalist with more range and power on this night there simply wasn't. Mercury crushes it. And getting back to that wall of sound, Brian's guitar playing was Hendrix inspired in a hitting the right notes and sustains that seem to be as big as Mt. Rushmore. Roger's drum sound was truly off the charts! It is rare so precise a hitter has such a huge sound too. While the cymbal work is spot-on it's the amazing sound of the roto-toms and double floors that pound you chest into the ground. Then there's the range of the songs that Mercury can span. As heavy as Zeppelin and as delicate as Nat King Cole, this guy is the most amazing singer in rock. There might be another Elvis (probably not of course), but there will never be another Freddy Mercury. You almost feel sorry for John Deacon whose pulse is as tight as an atomic clock, he get's overshadowed until Under Pressure and you realize how driving and propulsive his playing is even in the quietest moments. What a band. What a concert. This is simply one of the greatest bands of rock's golden era and this video feels as fresh as yesterday! Plus we get Live Aid too. This is one of my very favorite concert videos and there is no weaknesses in sound, sight, and editing is nigh perfect here which is much more than I can say for 90% of rock concerts. You simply must get this if you have a passing interest in Queen as you'll soon become a huge fan.I was lucky to have family that got me interested in music early on....and while I listened to a lot of music in the 70's and 80's job and family came first...and could not invest in everything. Queen was a casualty...never bought a record or cared...there was always the Stones.I am now 70 years old...and very excited... Bohemian Rhapsody opened my eyes. This Blu-ray is just fantastic.Freddie Mercury was one of rock's greatest performers, and Queen deserves it's place in the Ramp;R Hall of Fame , inducted 18 years ago.If you don't have it it ...the Live Aid set alone is worth the 13 bucks. Bought the DVD specifically for the Queen Live Aid performance. It's a keepsake and it's very good to have a clean sound copy.No band had a soundcheck during Live Aid and there were a few problems on the day but thankfully not for Queen who have been credited with the enviable label of giving the Best Live Performance of any band. They got that distinction because they were the only band that did exactly what Bob Geldof asked the artists performing that day to do which was... perform your hits like a juke box of hits.Queen did exactly that, they selected 6 of their best known songs (Bohemian Rhapsody, Radio Ga Ga, Hammer To Fall, Crazy Little Thing Called Love, We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions).Queen compressed them to fit the 20-minute time slot and even sped a couple of them up. They knew they were not playing to a Queen fan audience but Freddie Mercury engaged the 77,000 Wembley crowd and the 100,000 Philadelphia audience. Both stadiums participated in singing the songs and with handclaps. Queen gave an exemplary performance that day. It was phenomenal and other artists felt they had stolen the show. The DVD also has Freddie and Brian accompanying him on acoustic guitar at 9:48pm where Freddie sings Is This the World We Created - a song he and Brian composed together several years earlier when they toured South Africa.Worth buying just for the Live Aid concert.I adore Queen but unfortunately was born a decade too late to see them in concert. With these amazing digitally remastered DVDs I can watch on my HD TV and feel like I was there! Freddie is larger than life. I do remember watching Live Aid on MTV when I was little but didn't realize the historical significance of Queen's performance at the time. Their performance on that day in 1985 has been understandably proclaimed the best live performance by a rock group, ever. Watching this video I definitely see why! This was a great purchase! While I liked many Queen songs in the day, I can't say they were a top band for me. That said, this performance is simply epic! Freddy was the ultimate showman, Brian a guitar wizard, and the band was ON. You simply have to admire their musicianship. If you even remotely like Queen, I can GUARANTEE you won't be disappointed.Item was exactly as described and arrived fast! QUEEN doing what they do! Great sound quality and awesome film restoration. The Live Aid footage isn't as restored as the Montreal concert but it is still an awesome added bonus. Definitely buying from here again. If you are a Queen fan you must have this blu-ray. Absolutely awesome. I love all kinds of rock music, but in my opinion Freddie Mercury will always be the best front man singer songwriter ever. Of course I also think Brian May is an amazing guitarist. You WILL enjoy this. Queen Rock Montreal is a great concert, I have been a fan of Queen since I was a very young boy. I recommend this concert blu ray for anyone who is a fan of Queen, this is them when they were at the top of their game and at the height of their career.
