This goat skull is truly one of a kind. This guy lived to a ripe old age, despite having the strangest tooth growth I’ve ever seen in a ruminant, and he has a presence that was just too rustic and hard worn for the finer metals I work with. He’s coated with multiple thin layers of real iron that were given an acid wash that turned it into reddish orange rust. I added a final layer of black patina before burnishing with steel wool to highlight the details of the skull. The rust gradients away from the skull and onto the horns. He’s creepy and he’s cool and I’ll never have another one quite like him.
